From the Vicar, April
I was speaking with someone at the school today who asked me a question regarding the Christian funeral service. He had been to a number of funerals lately and was wondering about the part of the committal during which the minister says, ‘We have entrusted N to God’s mercy, and we now commit his/her body to the ground: earth to earth, ashes to ashes, dust to dust: in sure and certain hope of the resurrection to eternal life through our Lord Jesus Christ…’ The bit that stood out to him was “in sure and certain hope of the resurrection”. Through this conversation we discussed what the nature of Christian hope actually is. I’ve written an article on this already, but I feel I should explore it again.
