Social Committee
The work of the Social Committee is important because one of the aspects of coming to church on a Sunday is to talk with one another and deepen our friendships and understanding of Christian fellowship. A local church on any given Sunday will have within it a wide array of different people from different back grounds, professions, interests, ages etc. During the service there is sometimes the opportunity for people to “share the peace” and greet one another, but it is more important that people actually show an interest and concern for one another outside of church services. So, after each 10:30 service there is the opportunity for people to have a cup of coffee or tea and a biscuit (or several–since there is no accounting for individual volume). The ladies that run this ministry sacrifice their own freedom and leisure after a service to ensure that others are able to mill about and chat with one another. It is a ministry that is often taken for granted, but would be one of the most missed if it were to suddenly disappear. Here are a couple of photos of some of the ladies involved in our coffee ministry.
