YOUNG PEOPLE
For generations questions of relevance and church attendance did not bother Anglican parishes. Going to church was something everyone did, and children were, for the most part, expected to come along and quietly sit beside their parents. Times have changed. The Church of England is having to reassert mission in a way it hasn’t had to do since the Gospel first came here. One way in which mission is particularly important is in the area of youth work. Though it is impossible for a village church to try and encompass a style that will suit all young people (this would look ridiculous anyway) it necessary that we be intentional about ministersing to young people directly. This happens on Sunday during public worship, to some extent, but needs to become more and more a part of our work and witness in the community throughout the week. At the Priory Church we are considering ways in which mission to children and youth can be strengthened so that children and youth feel a welcome and important part of the church family. Also, it is a priority for us that we communicate the love of Christ, his saving power, and the hope of spiritual vitality in ways that children and youth understand. Under the navigation header you will see a number of ways in which Priory Church does and supports ministry to youth. We hope that what you see know will be supported by more activities and initiatives in the years to come.
